We now proudly present the guidebook! It is a detailed, comprehensive book full of tips and information about nearly 100 attractions, almost a dozen hiking trails and as many churches in 22 municipalities across five counties in two countries. The book opens with a brief history of the Forest Finns and their culture.
The book's authors, Florence Oppenheim and Daniel Svensson, have travelled the Finn Forest with open eyes, a respectful approach and elegant penmanship. Well-known objects are found side by side with previously hidden gems and worthwhile detours hitherto unknown to but a few. The attracions have been arranged in some kind of logical order, keeping in mind the fact that most people travel by car. Every attraction is numbered, where the corresponding number can be found on the map that is included with the book. The map has been made especially for this book. As the reader will notice, we have not paid much attention to boundaries, whether they are municipal, country or national ones. Because the Finn Forest is boundless! Many Finn Forest enthusiasts and experts have shared with us their knowledge about the places presented in the book.
We are now hoping that Finn Forest Encounters will be your travel companion and kept in your glove compartment or rucksack during your many visits to exciting historical settings and magnificent landscapes.
